A person who likes having a greenery as a showcase, will like to have a conservatory in their porch or backyard. It may be a hobby for some people too to have small glass house built in to grow and protect plants. What is a conservatory?

Victorian conservatory

Edwardian conservatory 

Similar to the victorian, this is based on a rectangular floor plan and looks to maximise the space around. The difference is that it has a bright open space along with the four sided pitched roof. This combo forms the perfect spot to have a leisure time.  

Orangeries  conservatory

They are use for planting exotic fruits. It forms a perfect platform to showcase some of the beautiful fruits around the place all in one location. This could sometimes turn out to be an exhibition too. These conservatories have red brick pillars and glass walls opening up a bright, big space for the plants. 

Gable conservatory 

They have a triangular front and a rectangular floor plan. Their front windows extend to meet the roofs, giving them the required light and space. 

Loggia conservatory

It was inspired from the italian renaissance and also developed based on british architecture. With a combination of the two, they have a roofed gallery and an inclined room open to air on one side and supported by ornate columns on the other. This is the type that stands out different from the other conservatories.

Lean-to conservatory 

It consists of a rectangular roof that leans on to the main area. They are uncomplicated to build and are suitable for all kinds of houses. It is also less expensive and hence preferred by many.

Garden Room conservatory 

Same as the lean-to, the structure of this room has leaning roof onto the main area. The only difference between lean-to and garden is that, the area in the garden is big enough for people to come and have a relaxing time. The structure.

Steps to design them 

There are 4 basic steps to design the conservatory. Any project takes about 3-4 months to complete on an average. 

1. Planning The scope of the work and the rough estimates are planned by the contractor.
