A Corner Storefront in the busy area of Hosur in Hubli, Karnataka was the bare site transformed into a beautiful and cozy Cosmetology Clinic taking a branding approach to design. The concept was to blend into the existing building yet having the chic touch of modern industrialism.
The wall of the therapy room continues into the doctor’s cabin adorned with a luxury wall paper being the only shiny element in this earthy scheme of materials. The Doctor’s Cabin has a desk and storage along with a basin and a mirror and a full clear glass partition towards the road side to allow natural light during examinations by the doctor.
The Doctor’s main storage unit is conceptualised as a free standing element and to emphasise this, the unit does not extend till the ceiling but has glass as its connection, giving us a seamless ceiling. The storage unit is designed as an open and closed system where the wood covers the open and the white covers the closed. The storage acts as a partition between the cabin and the therapy room. Privacy is provided by roller blinds and frosted glass.
Next to the reception is another waiting lounge for visitors with a stony backdrop and past this is a multipurpose space, specially designed for the client. This space has a sliding door and a foldable bench which can be opened up to accommodate the huge amount of foot traffic that this clinic sees. At other times, the bench maybe folded up and the doors closed to be used as a therapy room for patients receiving laser treatments. It has a basin inside to accommodate the patients and also a store room. A block of staircase that shows inside the clinic is painted pink to accentuate the follies in the space rather than hide them.
