This hospitality school and community center will be practically a non-profit training center dedicated to delivering vocational and life skills education in and around north Bali, Buleleng regency. It will prepare young people from low come or no income families for a better future in the service and hospitality sector as well as creating awareness and preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
The demand for the architect is to create a school for about 300 pupils in the age of 15-24 with 10 classrooms, a 5 star training kitchen, computer labs, admin offices, meeting facilities for the school and other organizations, large public event, performance and display areas as well as a vast permaculture garden as income creating training ground and as vegetable and fruit supply for the training kitchen.
The design is organized in a very dynamic building form. The central round double storey roof over the sunken performance and event hall is surrounded by the one level admin, kitchen, meeting and common facilities of this training center.
The curved arm stretching away from the central hall, houses the 9 classrooms, the library, the computer lab and multifunction terraces on two levels. All these rooms are accessed from a covered corridor open to the permaculture garden side.
The flat green roof is a highlight of the whole design. The roof is slightly wave- shaped and gives the whole building its dynamic. This green roof will be permaculture cultivated with small plants and herbs and is accessible by ramps.
The slanted v-shaped double-pillars holding the corridors and roofs are another design feature that gives this building its distinguished signature appearance.
The structure is fully calculated and the tender drawings are delivered this November. Predicted construction period is March 2018 till March 2019.
