The owners of this attractive detached home in South West London wanted to increase their living space without substantially altering the above ground presentation of the building.
Fraher Architects worked with basement specialists to add another level of living accommodation to the lower ground floor level, with a direct link leading to the garden. Front and rear light wells, as well as roof lights and double height spaces, feed natural light into the lower ground floor level. The significant head height makes the subterranean level feel like a ground floor living space.
A floating feature American black walnut staircase leads you down to the lower level, wrapping around the fitted joinery. Full height glass walls to a bespoke wine store become a feature within the lounge area.
Fraher Architects provided a full RIBA service. Fraher & Co designed and fabricated all joinery.
