Earlier this year we were contacted by a property developer already part-way into the design process. She had purchased an idyllic canal-side plot of land and finalised designs with an architect for a 2 bedroom bungalow to suit her elderly mother. Having had bad experiences before using conventional contractors Barbara decided to look for an alternative, someone who could provide the desired end product without the stresses, disruptions and inefficiencies of on-site building, and allowing her to avoid getting caught up too much in management of the project. As usual, volumetric modular building provided solutions and allowed the project to proceed.
After minimal tailoring of the existing architectural designs to allow for transport, the building was booked into our schedule and began taking shape. Having already finalised design decisions Barbara was kept up-to-date with progress yet was completely free to continue with her busy day-to-day schedule while we handled things in The Factory. The unit was in our Factory for a total of 14 weeks from commission. From the day of delivery, the house was made weather-tight in just 3 hours, with only 5 heavy vehicle movements and very little disturbance to day-to-day local traffic.
Completion of work on-site took a mere 2 and a half days including construction of a large outdoor deck, installation of granite worktops and preparation of the roof for solar panel installation: With the vast majority of finishes being completed in The Factory.
Projects of a similar nature: Once plans and specification have been finalised, construction in our Factory can be managed by our own team; allowing our clients to have as much input in the process as suits them.
Boutique Modern offer services from design development to construction of pre-existing projects. We are happy to advise on the next steps forward for any client looking to bring their own project to fruition.
