My work is inspired by my persistent interest in the relation between constructed environment and uncultivated habitat. the work testifies to a deep fascination with the ties between man and the natural structures around me. Interpreting nature as a powerful force that commands respect, rather than a weak entity in need of continuous protection, runs as a red thread through my various collections and projects.
I analyse the power lines of various forms of flora and fauna, creating geometric abstractions that unveil the strength and beauty of wildlife in its most simplified form, sometimes to the edge of recognition. The clear-cut lines and the simplified forms that characterise the signature of me being an artist introduce a post-modernist feel, while the handcrafted approach results in unique pieces with a specific personality and a diversity that reflects the variegation of nature. Through this approach, a fine balance is established in which the arithmetic designer, the working craftsman and the environmentally engaged artist come together.
This is a "simplified" form of a trophy of a giraffe in real size. Made of 100% Corten steel.
