The house was built on a 170 sq. meters land in the town of Alvarado, Veracuz. The project was designed in two floors, unified by a great exposed concrete frame which has a main role and gives the sense of openness by a double-height over a relaxing pool. The pool is oriented towards the street so it may achieve a more daring and free spatial feeling. The border between this space and the street is represented subtlety with a frosted glass, which lets the light and the sounds from the street get into the pool space but at the same time it creates a visual barrier to keep the house users privacy. The swimming pool is also the visual overkill of the living room, dining room and kitchen as a continuous space. By aligning the public areas it was able to save space so a little vestibule could be created towards the bedroom located at the farthest part of the floor which was a client’s requirement. The parking spaces were designed on the side, located one behind the other.
Three more bedrooms were designed in the upper floor leaving the main bedroom towards de front of the house, making possible a game between the extruded volumes and the concrete frame.
By breaking the momentum of the generic designs in this particular suburb we were allowed to explorer different alternatives for taking advantage of the maximum of every squared meter, also we could create diverse ambiences inside the house with predominant volumes in white color and in a minor degree using natural materials like exposed concrete, wood, marble and quarry.
