Part of the brief from the client stipulated a home free of unnecessary clutter. This was in order to break away from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy a calming retreat complemented by the idyllic surroundings – which is enhanced even more thanks to the fact that the house is located atop a sloping landscape.
In Aidan’s own words: “The beauty of a considered minimalist approach is that it’s contradictory to what people tend to think an interior designer does. It’s an exercise in discipline to design with a minimalist mindset, the natural tendency is to overcompensate and to add more to a space, as opposed to taking away from it”.
