For Daniel Martí, owner of DMP Arquitectura, this eco home in the lap of the mountain is a labour of love. The rising costs of residential dwellings prompted the architects to find a mean of constructing a budget home without sacrificing quality. A combination of standardised methods and prefabrication helped him to achieve his goal.

The idyllic location of this house proved to be an inspiration in itself. You will surely not like to miss this opportunity to breathe in the fresh and cool mountain air…

Overview

The tiny one storey wooden house is located in a small town named Beniarrés in eastern Spain. The entire structure is built using natural and engineered wood.

It has a living area of mere 51 sq metres. This adorable wood cabin is fitted with modern facilities like solar photovoltaic panels and water recycling.

On a strong foundation

The construction of the house took only about 10 days. Everything has been built by hand without the use of any heavy machinery like excavators or cranes. Simple design techniques have been followed to build the partly prefabricated structure.

The façade is built from heat treated spruce. Along with wood panels, the walls make use of a special type of pavement tile.

Living room

The layout of the interior is simple and fluid. It receives sufficient sunlight. Simplicity of the layout ensures barrier free circulation throughout the interior. Large sofas and a simple bench turned into a coffee table decorate the inviting living room.

The walls are stylised with framed images. Large windows and doors provide fine views of the outside and keep the interior sunny all day long. This tiny abode also has a separate dining room and kitchen.

Bathroom

The bathroom, styled with white walls and grey cement tiles for the flooring, is modest in size and design. The shower area has laminated flooring and, following the prevailing trend, is partitioned off from the other areas with the help of a glass panel.

The simplicity of the wall mounted shelf that holds the small wash basin is something to take a note of. Those concerned about their cramped bathrooms can take inspirations from this shelf and free up some floor space in their small bathrooms.

Bedroom

Only a glimpse of the bedroom is obtainable from this image. However, you will get a general idea of the décor, which resembles the other rooms of this house. The walls are painted in white. One of them has a large wardrobe set against it.

Somewhat expectedly, the bed occupies the central position. The front yard can be reached via a narrow doorway.

Front yard

Stunning scenery of the surrounding makes this frontyard the most welcoming place to be. A wooden dining table and chairs are set on the gravel bed that is prepared for the front garden.

Fruit trees and potted cacti act as precious embellishments of a small outdoor dining parlour. There can hardly be any pleasanter experience than tasting delicious paella on this open porch.

Do not think that building a house is a faraway dream for you. With innovative ideas and suitable support, you too can soon be the owner of a beautiful home in the lap of nature like this Spanish wood cabin.
