Cities can be loud, crowded and overwhelming at times. Just ask anyone who lives in one! But for a lucky few, living in a city can be surprisingly peaceful and harmonious if you call a private residence home.

Imagine opening your bedroom window and being greeted with trees instead of your neighbors bathroom! That's what we call tranquility. So what do these private residences look like? We found 7 homes in popular cities that escape the hustle and bustle and share a common theme: modern architecture that enables privacy. Some of the residences even boast a private backyard and parking space! Let's check them out…

1. A home with a view

First let's look at a private residence in Seoul, South Korea. These homeowners enjoy a single family home on a busy hillside. Their answer to privacy? Minimal exposure to the street by making the home narrow and tall so they can enjoy a side yard, backyard, and rooftop for entertaining.

The home also offers a private parking space. Now we're curious to see what the inside looks like!

2. Secret windows

You can find this private residence in a busy Taiwan city. We were surprised to learn that this 20-year-old apartment was recently renovated into a gorgeous multi-family home!

At first glance you'll notice some clever design tricks the experts used to give this residence ultimate privacy. Like using wood shingles and vertical windows. The result: a combination of modern and warm materials that I'm sure the residents enjoy!

3. Sleek and modern

In the same Taiwan city you can find this private residence. In order to provide privacy, the contractors installed a wraparound wall and created inside a secluded courtyard and parking space for the homeowners.

Another tactical design element used is eliminating windows alongside the busy street corner. We're sure this helps the owners enjoy less noise and quiet nights in!

4. Narrow but charming

We love this charming home! It's tucked away in London, where the owners enjoy a private balcony and backyard! We can imagine enjoying warm summer nights on the lawn and completely feeling removed from the lively city surrounding this home.

5. Rooftop views for days

Can you imagine the views enjoyed from this rooftop? We can! This single-family home is located in South Korea's largest city, Seoul. The modern design and private wall helps the homeowners escape the popular city.

6. Vertical and delightful

This is another example of a private residence that enjoys both privacy and rooftop views. This home also includes a private parking garage which is a rare amenity in most cities. With tucked away balconies and an all brick facade, we're sure the backside of this home has some impressive windows on display!

7. Structured lines and gorgeous designs

Wow! This private residence is breathtaking. Located in the beautiful island city of Singapore, this home is a modern designers dream. The wood wall is bold and private, and provides the family with a sense of security. The rooftop, another favorite of ours, offers a rare respite with tropical and lush foliage. Another favorite of ours is the high design and beautiful atrium! If only we can spend one night in this city at this home.
