How do we make a house a home?

To some extent, this is a question we all strive to answer. There’s no space more personal, or intimate than a person’s home, and we are forever striving to shape our homes in way that reflects our personalities and creates a space that we are most comfortable in.

Unfortunately we don’t have all the answers, but we can show you an adorable Italian apartment that although modern, and to some extent minimalist, has been beautifully crafted by Mob Architects into a warm and welcoming home. Let’s take a look…

Looking on to the living room

The kitchen area is neatly separated from the rest of the open-plan space by a counter, upon which there’s a miniature cactus garden. This charming little touch breathes life into the space and helps to add that intangible element that turns a house into a home.

The position of the counter – looking on to the living room – allows the occupants to continue a conversation with guests sitting in the living room or at the table while they’re cooking; making meal preparation a far more social affair.

Sublime lines and shapes

We begin our tour in the delightful dining area; adjacent to the kitchen, the dining area forms part of an open-plan space that also encompasses the living room.

The apartment as a whole has a wonderful, fluid, spacious feel to it, thanks in part to the open-plan design, but also the usual shapes and contours of the property. The ceiling is slightly higher in the open-plan area, which adds to the feeling of space, and to the right attractive shelving adorns the wall in a peculiar curved shape.

A cheerful place to chill out

The décor dominated by white walls and light wooden tones is interspersed with bright pastel colours that bring an almost whimsical element to the décor, and prevents the beige furnishings from being too boring.

Minimalist magic

The beautiful, beige bedroom blends minimalist design with a little classic style and some flamboyant touches to create an enchanting room. The décor is much the same as the rest of the apartment, with the exception of the fabulous floral wallpaper that comes to define the room and set it apart from the rest of the apartment. In conjunction with the unique light fixture, and elegant, matching nightstands the room makes a big impact using very little.

Small touches make all the difference

The simple, white décor of the bathroom is invigorated by a lovely mural that makes the space unique and personal.
