The city is a great place to live. There are lights, people, and action everywhere you go. But even the biggest city lovers can appreciate some time off in the mountains to breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the cool nights, and marvel at the tremendous landscape.

That's why today we're taking you to a quiet retreat in the mountains–it's time for a getaway! The home is just outside of the city of Barcelona, Spain. It was given to us by the architects at House Habitat and provides all the comforts you need to fully relax and enjoy the serenity of the mountains. Not only that, it also boasts low power consumption and helps to save the environment. So come with us, kick off your shoes, and be amazed at the idyllic scenery!

Wooden home amidst a spectacular landscape

Here we have our home, which mixes the traditional design of wooden huts of the forest with a more modern spin. It shows a more open face, with large and dramatic windows that connect the interior with the exterior.

The total area of the home is 140 square metres and each square metre is dedicated to bioclimatic design, which makes heating consumption almost zero.

Going up to the porch

The house rests on a flat plane, but is no stranger to uneven ground. To overcome this hurdle, the architects built stairs that bring us to the house, specifically to a charming porch to enjoy the views and the cool evening air.

The mountains aren't the only piece of nature we can enjoy here. Surrounding the house we have a beautiful private garden

Wood inside and out

Once inside this wonderful log cabin, the cosiness feeling only intensifies. What we see here is the living room, a room where the feeling of spaciousness is enhanced by the high ceilings with wooden beams add rustic charm to this room.

On the other hand, the large windows let the Catalan Pyrenees mountains become an element of decoration in the house.

The other side

Here we have another view of the living room. As we've mentioned before, the rustic elements of this home make for a cosier atmosphere, but it's the modern style that gives it that special appeal.

Elegant white leather adds sophistication and more of an urban touch for a modern cottage.

One bedroom

This cute cottage home has three bedrooms, and here is the main one. It has direct access to the bathroom, which we can see through this sliding door.

Here, as in the rest of the house, wood is the fundamental building material and gives it that warm and comfortable character. The decor is simple and austere, giving prominence to the room.

One last stop

Our final stop is one of the two bathrooms of the home. This is the one that is en-suite to the master bedroom. Despite what you might think, wood makes a great impression even in the bathroom, the wettest room of the house.

Of course, tiles were used for the particularly problematic areas such as shower. The room also replicates the warm and modern design with the glass wall that seems to float in space. Even in the smallest room of the home, we still have the same big amount of charm.
