Design professionals, Nafasi, have taken a rental apartment in Washington D.C. and redecorated it, transforming it into an eclectic and artistic haven packed with personality and style.

As we explore each room of this home, we will see how beautiful a small home can be and just how much life and energy can be packed into a limited space.

As they say, dynamite comes in small packages!

The lavish living room

In the first room of this home, we come across a gorgeous little living room. The predominate tones are white, but they are enhanced by all sorts of colors and patterns.

For starters, the designers have installed black and white linoleum floors, which contrast beautifully with the cushions scattered on the white sofa. These cushions are made up of all sorts of colors and patterns. These change the whole look and feel of the plain white sofa.

On the wall, we come across very bright, bold and interesting artwork, which enhances the entire space. Don't you love how the ballerina, the world map and the horns add texture and intrigue to the space?

The eclectic dining room

The dining room is behind the living room, making up the open plan design of the home. The designers have used a pink rug to distinguish this space from the rest of the living area.

They've also paired a simple wooden dining room table with luxurious, elegant and classic looking chairs of different shapes, sizes and colors. This introduces a bohemian style to the space!

Across the entire wall in the living room, there are shelves, cupboards and drawers. The glass doors and open shelves allow the family to keep certain decor items and accessories on display, adding to the eclectic and stylish look and feel.

Have a look at these things to consider when choosing shelves.

Touches of extravagance

In this area of the home, we can see how the designers haven't held back in their quirky and creative decorating style.

In the corner of the room, we come across an armchair covered in grey fur, furnished with a round yellow cushion. This is a very unique design, yet it works in this style of apartment.

Don't be afraid to express your creativity and flair in your home design. You can end up with a home that is worthy of the pages of a design magazine!

The exotic bedroom

The bedroom is very similar to the rest of the home, with its neutral base of light wooden floors and white walls.

It also features an abundance of natural light, which illuminates the details and designs in this space as well as makes the room seem that much bigger and more expansive.

The artwork in this space has been carefully selected, brightening the room. The plush rugs introduce different patterns and textures to the room while the custom-built shelves mirror the shelves that we saw in the living area. We love how the books on the shelves have been interspersed with ornaments and accessories.

A functional desk has been placed in the corner of the room, but this doesn't mean it's devoid of decor or accessories. A gorgeous little pot of flowers adds color and life to this space.

A closer look

If we look at the desk a little bit more closely, we can also see that another set of cupboards has been installed on the wall above it. This creates the perfect space for storing items neatly out of sight, keeping the decorative elements on display.

For a bedroom, this is a must! You want a space where you can keep your clothes, shoes, hats and scarves stored, organized and protected as well as out of view.

Have a look at this smart decor for the small bedroom.

We can also see more carefully in this image how the natural light flows in through the windows, enhancing the light furniture and pale walls.

The little balcony

Even the small balcony is packed with life, energy and vitality.

The designers have made sure not to waste this space, despite how narrow it is. They've jam-packed it with plants and flowers as well as some comfortable wooden chairs and bright cushions.

If you are lucky enough to have an exterior space like a balcony, terrace or garden in your home, you must make the absolute most of it. Ensure you have a comfortable place to sit where you can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine or even a small table where you can dine under the stars.

This is a home that shows small can be just as savvy!
